The Downside of Professional Photographers for Dating Apps
99% of professional photographers absolutely suck when it comes to taking dating photos. I am going to show you exactly why, as well as a better alternative
I am personally frustrated from seeing guys spend hundreds or even thousands of their hard earned money on a pro photoshoot only to get dog shit results. The crux of the problem is that what makes a good wedding or work photo is very different from what makes a good dating photo.
Let’s take a look at some examples that illustrate this point. I just googled “professional dating photographer” and clicked on a website on the first page of Google. Here are some photos I saw in this person’s portfolio
These will definitely not get you matches because they look way too posed. And that is the most common mistake professional photographers make. They don’t realize the importance of photos looking “natural”. Here is an example of a more natural photo for comparison
This is also not the only issue. Quite often, professional photographers will go for the “nice guy look”, which at the end just makes you come off beta.
In addition, they have an annoying habit of making the background very blurred, which signals to the girl that you paid for a photoshoot (which comes off as low value).
So what’s the solution?
Well, first, you don’t want to throw the baby out with the bathwater. There are a small number of photographers who are aware of everything I mentioned and are excellent at taking dating app photos. The two I always recommend are Justin and David.
They are both located in Florida, so that will require travel. If you are completely unable to do that, then you can theoretically find a good photographer on your own; you just need to know what you’re looking for and how to screen.
The first question you should ask is if they have experience taking photos for dating apps. If the answer is no, just move on. If the answer is yes, have them send you their portfolio and compare it to the type of photos I talk about in my videos/articles. Link to an article on this here.
There is one more option that I think is faster, cheaper, and better. That is using AI to create ultra-realistic photos for you. Most websites and apps that do this suck as well. But, there is one good one that I can highly recommend, it is called www.unrealphotos.io. Some of the results I’ve seen people get with that have been nothing short of amazing.
Conclusion
The point of this post is to simply help you understand the challenges you face working with professional photographers so that you don’t waste your money. There are solutions here, as I mentioned, you just need to be careful.
